Text in Russian. Embossed cloth. 10-5/8 x 7. XXVIII, 401, III pp. Illustrations in text, plates (in color and b/w), bibliography, index. Design by V. Belkin. The book contains a lot of important information not only on Tairov, Meyerhold (the whole chapter), Mayakovsky, etc, but also on theater artists. In the Index one can see the names of Al'tman, Anisfel'd, Annenkov, Bakst, Benois, Burliuk, Dobuzhinsky, Diagilev, Zdanevich, Kamensky, Korovin, Malevich, Puni (Pougny), Roerich, Sudeikin, Chekhonin, et al. This volume was the only one published. This edition was discontinued in particular because with the advent of Stalinism the avant-garde and émigré artists were no longer in favor. [Belkin, Veniamin (1884-1951): Well-known Russian and Soviet artist. Paintings, graphic art, porcelain, architecture, agitprop. Studied in Paris. Exhibited at "World of Art" exhibitions, "Union of Youth", etc. Professor of SVOMAS (school of Russian Avant-garde). Exhibited in 1922 (Florence) with Annenkov, Lebedev; in 1923 (Petrograd) with Chernikhov, Filonov, Larionov I., Matiushin, Tatlin; in 1924 (New York) with Bakst, Dobuzhinsky, Chekhonin; in 1925 (Los Angeles) with Benois, Somov, etc.]
