Shevchenko [Shevtchenko, Chevtchenko], Alexander [Aleksandr] Vasil'evich [Vasilievich, Vasilyevich] (1883-1948)

Well-known Russian and Soviet Avant-garde artist. Painter, graphic artist, monumental art. Studied in Paris and Moscow under Korovin and Serov. Member of many associations. Professor of VKhUTEMAS. Participated in futurist exhibitions: "Donkey's Tail", "Target", "World of Art", etc. Exhibited in 1922 (Berlin) with Archipenko, Chagall, Filonov, Gabo, Kandinsky, Lissitzky, Malevich, Popova, Puni (Pougny), Rodchenko, Rozanova, Tatlin, etc.
