Dmitry Pavlovich Krapivny (1904-1940): Russian Soviet Avant-garde painter. Studied at VKhUTEIN in Petrograd from Mikhail Matyushin, later became a pupil of Pavel Filonov. (Both were famous Russian artists, heads of two major Leningrad/St. Petersburg Avant-garde art schools. The third one was the school of Malevich). Participated in various exhibitions including Filonov's School Exhibition (Leningrad, 1927); "Obshchegorodskaya" Exhibition (Leningrad, 1930) with Kustodiev, Petrov-Vodkin, Suetin, Chekhonin; 1st Exhibition of Leningrad Artists (Leningrad, 1935) with Lebedev, Malevich, Mitrokhin, etc.
His wife Lidia Frolova-Bagreeva also was an artist of Filonov's school. Their names were often mentioned together.
