Galaktionov, Stepan Filippovich (1778-1854)

Well-known Russian engraver, lithographer, painter, and pedagogue. Born and died in St. Petersburg. Studied in the Academy of Arts from M. Ivanov, S. Shchedrin and I. Klauber. Author of cityscapes of St. Petersburg and its suburbs. Made illustrations to works of A. Pushkin, I. Krylov, N. Gnedich, etc. Galaktionov was one of first Russian lithographers. Member of the Imperial Academy of Arts, Professor, Councilor of the Academy of Arts.
