Text in Church Slavonic. Folio (13" x 8-1/4") Full-leather binding with one clasp. Beautifully printed in red and black throughout on strong paper. Illustrated: title-page with broad woodcut-border showing apostles and saints; the full-page woodcut on title-page verso depicts the Holy Cross before the skyline of a city; 4 full-page woodcuts with the portraits of St. Matthew, Marcus, John, and Lucas; some of them are signed and dated (1681-1683) by Eustaphi Zavado from Lviv (?); the text is richly illustrated with 51 woodcuts, many of them belonging to the chapters of Matthew and Lucas; numerous initials in woodcut.

[EXERCISES DE LA CAVALERIE]. Album of Engravings.
No Place: Guill Sergent (printer), c. 1775.
A very large volume of engravings about cavalry. The spine bears the following: "Exercises de la cavalerie". The page size is 63.5 x 46.5 cm, and there are 32 plates. Numbers 14 and 15 each have four gatefold panels; no. 25 is a triple-fold; the other 29 are doublespreads. The engravings are after Blarenberghe (no first name or initial, probably Louis-Nicolas van Blarenberghe (1716-1794), or Henri-Desire van Blarenberghe, (1734-1812). There are numerous engravers. A few of the engravers have dated their work 1775. The 32 plates are numbered 1-32 and all deal with cavalry and horsemanship. The first plate shows a riding ground and 6 cartouches illustrating saddling, mounting, and the like. The second plate bears the legend "L'Ecole des Chevaux". Various legends refer to the campaigns of 1740 and 1748, so that might be Swedish-Russian War. The plates do not represent actual battles but, rather, depictions of the types of formations used at various times and in various circumstances. From a private library with stamps. Large and heavy item.

Documents are related to art works and artistic life, mostly of Kazan' 1920's. Some sheets in fragile condition but readable;
Unique photographs of art works (some of them may not survive);
Photographic experiment by Victor Sotonin (photomontage / photogram?);
Two very rare catalogues: "2nd Exhibition of Kazan LEF" (1925, 100 copies) and "IV Exhibition of TAKhRR" (1925, 200 copies, with a photo of an artwork pasted, obviously, by the owner).
