ISKUSSTVO ("Art"). 1933-1989
Moscow-Leningrad: Izogiz, Iskusstvo, 1933-1989

The most serious, informative and representative journal on Soviet art. Close to complete set.

Text in Russian. Softcovers.

From 1933 the journal was published bi-monthly in 4to (10" x 7") thick volumes (150-200 pp. + ills.) with plain non-illustrated covers. Each issue contained 50-100 (sometimes more) illustrations, on separate plates and in text, b/w (mostly) and in color. (The very first issue was a double one).
From the last 1940 issue the magazine changed its format. It became thinner but larger in size (small folio, 11-3/4" x 9") with tipped-in color illustration on the cover.
From July 1941 to 1946 the publication was suspended.
In 1947 the publication was resumed and continued in the same format until 1955.
In 1956 and 1957 the magazine had 8 issues a year.
From 1958 it was issued monthly with illustrated cover instead of tipped-in illustration.

Naturally, with each decade the printing quality became better with more color illustrations.

Here is offered almost complete set in individual issues: 487 numbers of 505 published. (96.4%)

Rare.
WorldCat shows no such sets worldwide.

For 1933-1940 issues with plain covers some illustrations are presented.
For 1941-1989 issues only covers were pictured. (We believe they give adequate enough impression of the artistic style and contents of the magazine).
