Orlov, Ivan)
TIPOGRAFSKAYA PECHAT' ORLOVA ("Orlov's Typographical Printing"). Album. (Money Printing)
[St. Petersburg, 1890's]

4to (10" x 7-1/4") cloth embossed in gilt to front; all edges gilt; moire endpapers; tissue guards; slipcase.

An elaborately manufactured album containing 67 original prints - samples of money printing using technology invented by an outstanding Russian engineer Ivan Orlov. Nice condition.
Loosely inserted 4-page 4to (10" x 8") booklet in English advertising Orlov's printing method (Gold Medal on 1900 Paris Exhibition).

The copy belonged to an important industrial official Mikhail Tripolitov, contains his stamped address and signed probably by I. Orlov.

Comparing Tripolitov's address in the album with his known addresses in old directories, the album should be dated before 1901. It might be prepared for 1900 Paris exhibition.
Because both Orlov and Tripolitov were engineers and worked for the same Russian money-printing organization E.Z.G.B. (Ekspeditsiya Zagotovleniya Gosudarstvennykh Bumag), the album could be a gift to Tripolitov from Orlov himself.
The album probably was printed in very small edition not for sale and could be a presentation item for top financial and/or industrial officials like Tripolitov.

A beautiful and Extremely Rare album. No holdings or references found.
